About the Friends for Life Seniors Foundation

The Friends for Life Seniors Foundation was born from a simple but powerful mission: to give back to the seniors who’ve given so much to all of us. Founded by Amy and Michael, the owners of Friends for Life Homecare, the foundation began as a way to serve the seniors in their own hometown of Massapequa—and quickly grew into something much bigger.

After years of working closely with the elderly, Amy and Michael saw firsthand how much more this niche community needed—beyond just care. They saw the loneliness, the isolation, and the quiet need for connection. And they knew they had to do more.

That’s when the foundation came to life.

What started as small acts of kindness turned into a full-scale movement to bring joy, information, support, and love to seniors across Long Island. From intimate luncheons at senior centers to educational seminars and community gatherings, the foundation raises funds year-round to create meaningful, joyful experiences for local seniors.

Its largest and most cherished event is Senior Day in the Park—held each year at Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa. This special day welcomes over 500 seniors for an unforgettable afternoon of themed BBQs, games, live music, dancing, laughter, and friendship. It all began after COVID, when Amy and Michael wanted to find a safe way to bring seniors back together after months of isolation. What they created was more than just a picnic—it was a moment of reconnection, healing, and joy.

At the heart of it all is one simple belief: our elders deserve to feel seen, celebrated, and loved. The Friends for Life Seniors Foundation is committed to making that happen—one event, one smile, and one heartfelt moment at a time.

More Than Just a Day in the Park: How We Support Seniors All Year Long

When people hear about the Friends for Life Seniors Foundation, the first thing that usually comes to mind is our biggest event of the year—Senior Day in the Park. And while that beautiful day at Marjorie Post Park is something we look forward to every year, the heart of our foundation beats all year long.

Thanks to the generous donations we receive, we’re able to host meaningful events and experiences for the seniors in our community throughout every season. Our mission has always been to bring joy, support, and a sense of togetherness to our elders—and that doesn’t stop after one day in the sun.

Throughout the year, we organize educational seminars for seniors and their caregivers, covering important topics like healthcare planning, safety in the home, and navigating senior resources. We also love celebrating the little moments that mean so much—Mother’s Day brunches, St. Patrick’s Day meals, festive holiday parties, and heartwarming luncheons that give our seniors something to look forward to.

One of the most meaningful programs we offer is our Veterans Luncheons, where we proudly honor the brave men and women who have served our country. These events are filled with gratitude, recognition, and the simple joy of sitting around a table with others who understand their journey.

These gatherings are more than events—they're opportunities for connection, laughter, and lasting memories. They remind our seniors that they are never forgotten, that they matter deeply, and that their community is always here for them.

So yes, we’re proud of Senior Day in the Park—but we’re even prouder of everything that happens in the months before and after it. Because every season should be filled with joy, dignity, and community for our seniors.
